Identify

Identify is a drinking game created by Carl, Chris, Dan and Tim after a tutorial. The rules are simple, and are based around the James Street Vaults' incredibly long shot list: 104 separate shots to be precise.

The game is played in rounds of increasing difficulty. None of us has survived to the final round as of yet.

The rules are as follows:

  • The players sit in the circle around a table. Using an approved menu, each player purchases a shot for the player to his left in secret. Once each player has a shot, the game begins.
  • In turn, each player has one minute to peruse the menu to decide which shot has been purchased for him. If he guesses correctly, the player who bought him the shot must drink it. If incorrect, he looses a life: as a hint, the buying player reveals whether the shot is further up or down the list than the guess. Then play continues to the next player.
  • Play continues in this manner: for the second guess only have 40 seconds, and in the final guess only 20. After all three guesses have been made, the drinking now occurs. Any shots that were not guessed are downed by the victims, and any that were correctly guessed are downed by the purchaser.
  • The next round now begins. This is the same as the first round, but two identical shots are purchased per player. Just before the third guess, one of the shots is downed as a hint as to it's contents. If the shot is guessed before the third guess, the purchaser must down both shots.
  • After the second round, three shots are purchased. Play is the same as before but a shot is downed before the second and third guesses. Play is the same for the fourth round, where a shot is taken before each guess.
  • At this point, winning the game is unlikey to be important. A rough measure of winning can be obtained by who can stand up successfully.

The intention is for this game to be a post-tutorial tradition. It's made one week so far.
