Arthur was the main login server, which provides shell and Web access. It was also the primary (actually, only) mailserver with POP3, IMAP and SMTP support, as well as a Webmail client. Members had the option of a MySQL or PostgreSQL database, with lots of other shiny things like PHP (shiny new version 5) and CGI. There were unconfirmed rumours of ASP being sighted on this machine, and a team was last seen heading into its depths to verify it in an attempt to bring back a sample. We haven't heard from then since.
Around the time we were changing the server over to Zaphod, it caught a 'software' cold. It's currently resting in Ben's room until he finds an opportunity to give it a virtual bath and a good rub. Eventually, it'll act as the mail and projects server.
Arthur, like all the boxen, runs Debian GNU/Linux (the "Testing" distribution, currently named Etch).
